A&W Tidbits

Earlier this week Amelia was pestering me to let her watch a movie. I told her she could do anything else but watch a movie. She looked me straight in the eye and said, “fine, I want you to read me 1,020 books.”

This morning Will and Amelia were snuggling with us and started to get a little restless. Amelia was poking Will to make him laugh and he was squirming all over. Quickly he grabbed her hand and said “Nice to meet ya.” It worked for distraction, for all of us!

Will’s Piece

Will is very attached to his blanket. The key to his happiness is the silky border, which he calls his “piece.” We often hear him cry for it while struggling to go to sleep… saying, “where’s my piece?”. Over time he has removed increments of the border, which I’ve then cut off. There is about a foot of silky border left, literally hanging on by a thread to the blanket.

Update: last night he cried from his bed, “my piece is broken!” It had fallen off, and I promptly reattached it and then he went to sleep.

Born out

Last night I was putting Will to bed and he said he wanted to crawl back into my tummy. I said he was too big now and asked what he would he do if he got back in there. He replied “I’d be born out”. I asked if he remembered being born and he said, “I was born out and I see Mina.” I couldn’t really argue with that.

Conversations

Tonight Amelia was upset and in her a room. Will was at the table yelling, “Mina, come here!”. This happened several times until she came out and he said, “Mina, don’t cry”, she replied “It can’t be helped William”, and he said “Okay”.

Recently Will has gotten creative with stalling bedtime, even after he’s in his crib, by hollering “Mom, I’m naked.” My initial reaction was to holler back “Go to sleep Will”, but then thought I should just check. Low and behold, there was our son completely naked standing in his crib with a big grin. He’d discovered one thing that would always get us to come back to his room.
