Amelia sets her own schedule in her “Big Girl Bed”

We have been trying to transition Amelia from her crib to a twin bed for some time with minimal success. She usually says she wants to sleep in the “Big Girl Bed”, but ultimately cries for her crib. Occasionally she does stick with it, at least for a while. Last night we got her to fall asleep in it and she slept most of the night. However, at 5:15 (AM) we awoke to some light thumping and bumping, the sound of a turning doorknob, and Amelia creeping in our room with her blanket, a purse, and a basket full of her “friends”–stuffed bunnies, dogs, bears, and Baby Emma. She bopped me on the head and said, “Hi Da-Da! I’m awake!”

That’s the downside to a Big Girl Bed! More independence, which means more freedom. Now, if she could just entertain her friends in her ROOM or in her BED instead of with you. Oh well, you will be getting up early after a few weeks anyway. She will probably start complaining about the baby waking HER up next!!
I can’t wait to see her in her new bed! love, love.
