Adventures with Amelia, and a Will Update

The days are filled with constant Amelia commentary around here. Here are a few things she’s done and told me recently:

A few days ago Amelia came into the kitchen and said I needed to let the shark and fish in the house because they wanted to play in her room. Apparently they were outside so I opened the kitchen door briefly because it was cold and told them to hurry and come in. When I shut the door Amelia burst into tears because they were still outside, they weren’t as fast as I’d thought. I opened the door again and watched her look at the door and then turn her head towards her bedroom. She then assured me they’d made it inside and were in her room, where she then went to play. (I definitely don’t see everything going on here)

We were watching The Daily Show (of course) and there was a commercial with Beyonce singing. Amelia immediately started moving her body to the music as Dave and I stared at her and then ourselves. When it was over she smiled at us. Dave asked is she liked hip-hop and she quickly said “Yeah, I like hip-hop!”.

Amelia is often asked if she likes being a big sister. Her newest response, in a very serious tone is “Yes, when I look at him he stops crying,”…which is true and helpful.

This morning she had to take her jammies off to take her “heart beep”.

Will is continuing to change daily. He usually starts the day off with smiles and cooing for mom and Amelia. He is wearing 3-6 month clothes (he’s not quite 8 weeks old yet but partial credit goes to the cloth diaper which graces him with an extra large bottom) and has a very soft, round, smiling face. I moved the crib mattress up in preparation of his move to Amelia’s room in the next month or so. She’s very excited to have him in there and he was enjoying laying in his crib until the mobile spontaneously broke yesterday, a must get for Christmas I’m thinking!
